Why Choose KC Cloths Castor Oil?
The main difference between castor oil pressed at 49°C and castor oil pressed at 20°C lies in the preservation of the oil’s natural nutrients, its texture and the yield during extraction.
When castor oil is pressed at higher temperatures, some of its delicate vitamins, fatty acids and active compounds can be degraded and the oil may become thinner and more abundant. In contrast, cold-pressed castor oil, extracted at a gentle 20°C, retains the maximum amount of nutrients, resulting in a richer, thicker and more potent oil. KC Cloths Castor Oil is pure, certified and cold-pressed (first press) at 20°C, ensuring you receive the purest, most nourishing oil for your skin and hair care needs.
- Temperature: This is truly cold-pressed with no heat applied, keeping everything as natural as possible.
- Nutrients: Keeps all the nutrients, including vitamins and fatty acids, making it very pure.
- Amount of Oil: Less oil is extracted because the seeds aren’t softened by heat. That's why it is more expensive.
- Texture: Thicker and richer than oils pressed at higher temperatures, yet not overly thick or sticky. Allowing it to absorb quickly into your skin.
- Best Use: Ideal for premium skincare or health uses where the best quality is needed.
- The Castor oil must be allowed to be absorbed by the skin in 10-20 minutes.
Castor Oil (from Ricinus communis seeds) is rich in ricinoleic acid - a unique fatty acid that gives it many of its skin benefits. Here’s how it works on the dermis and overall skin layers:
Deep Penetration:
- Castor oil has a low molecular weight and high fatty acid content, which allows it to penetrate past the epidermis (outer layer) and reach the dermis (the deeper, living layer of skin).
- Once there, it nourishes skin cells and supports repair at a deeper level compared to lighter oils.
Moisturizing & Barrier Support:
- Ricinoleic acid acts as a humectant, drawing moisture into the skin.
- It also reinforces the lipid barrier, preventing transepidermal water loss (TEWL), which keeps the dermis hydrated and plump.
Anti-Inflammatory Action:
- Ricinoleic acid interacts with receptors in the skin that regulate inflammation (specifically EP3 prostaglandin receptors).
- This calms redness, irritation and swelling in the dermis, making it useful for acne, eczema and dermatitis.
Antimicrobial Effect:
- Castor oil’s fatty acids create an environment that inhibits bacteria, yeast and fungi growth on the skin.
- This helps protect the dermis from infections and supports healing of minor cuts or inflamed spots.
Collagen & Healing Support:
- The increased hydration and reduced inflammation help stimulate fibroblasts in the dermis (cells that produce collagen and elastin).
- This accelerates wound healing, reduces scarring and supports firmer, smoother skin over time.
Safety and Usage Guidelines
- Always perform a patch test before full use.
- Avoid contact with sensitive areas such as eyes and inner ears.
- Do not consume to induce labour -seek medical advice.
- Consult a healthcare provider if pregnant, nursing, or managing any medical conditions.
- Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain freshness.
